Song leaks

A couple of days ago I found out New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys have made a song together. It is not out yet but has gotten leaked out. A web news site posted an article about the guys and their new song. She then posted a link to it. She was told the song wasn't released yet so she apologized and took the link off. The damage has been done.

Now some fans have gotten a hold of this song from the link and now is making it's way around. This song is now out before it has been released and I am sure people are putting it on their ipods and sharing it. This means the guys are not going to make that much money from the song because no one wants to wait until it is released to the public and pay for it. I find this to be very disrespectful to the guys and their hard work they put into the songs.

When I went on youtube for something, I saw that the song was up. I clicked on it to see if it was the song. Once I realized it was, I paused it. I refuse to hear it until it is supposed to be released to the public. Now that it's on youtube, anybody can hear it and get it for free from a dis-tractor web site. I wonder if the guys are aware of this. I guess I should try to make it known to them.

I put up some tweets displaying my annoyance of this and I am sure some people just rolled their eyes and thought I was going over board. I don't care because it really bugs me how some people today just want want want. They are not willing to wait for something and even pay for it just because the option of getting it for free is there. This will effect the guys because they could be making even more money if everyone was to buy it. Seriously, talk about being greedy and selfish.

Silly wishes and hopes

Everyone has silly wishes and hopes, some are not so silly. We all want to do things in life, some may be a bit far out there but we can still dream. Sometimes I think about these things and so I thought I would blog about it.

I am fascinated by the paranormal. There are some things that are really hard for me to grasp but other things I do believe in. Although I can also be a skeptic. I am not one to automatically think a noise, feeling, sound or something I see is paranormal. I need to try and debunk it first. Since I am so fascinated by it, one of the things I would love to do is go visit some places that are supposed to be haunted. Places like the Stanly Hotel and the Waverly Hills sanitarium. What I would really love to happen is to be able too go on a ghost hunt with Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson from the tv show 'Ghost Hunters'. I respect what they do and how they do their investigations. Like I said, a silly wish.

I want to travel around the world. See everything. Do everything. I know I can't possibly do and see everything because it is just not humanly possible but I want to get close enough. Some of the places I want to see: Hawaii, UK, Australia, Bahamas, South America, etc  etc. I even want to go to places like the Arab countries and Africa. I want to explore, see, learn and have fun.

I wish I had the money so I could open a shelter for homeless gay teens. I know there are a lot of teens that are straight and homeless but there are more shelters for them than there are for teens that are gay. This will take so much money to do it the right way including having the security we will need to protect the shelter and the teens from the haters. I want to do this so bad but it seems impossible unless we happen to win the lotto.

All my life I have wanted to give to those that are less fortunate than me and to known charities. I have never had the money to do so. Sometimes it kills me inside to see some of the things others have to go through and I want to help them even if it's in a small way. One of these days I am hoping I can do this.

I still want to do things with my photographs. I still need some schooling. I'm just waiting to have enough money to do this.

I want to turn my poems and stories into books. This may be a little hard but I will continue to look into it and when I am ready I will unleash. One thing though, I need an artist that won't mind doing the art for free since I don't have the money to pay. Don't think that will happen.

My husband and I have also talked about opening up a no kill animal shelter. Again this will take more money than we could have. There are not enough of them out there and why should the animals die just because no one has taken them in by a certain time? It's not fair or right.

I guess this could have been included with the going around the world but I want to go on cruises. Reach places that you can't by plane or because the plane ride is to long for me to handle. I especially would like to have the chance to go on a Disney cruise and the New kids On The Block cruise.

I would like to meet Donnie Wahlberg even if it's once. I have had a crush on him since 1986 so to meet him would be pretty cool.

To meet and hang out for a day with the amazing Darren Hayes. Yes he is my favorite male artist beside Michael Jackson but that isn't the only nor the main reason I want to meet and hang with him. From what I know about Darren, he really is beautiful inside and out, he intrigues me, he's funny, sweet etc etc. I love hearing his thought on things. Darren is very deep, inspiring.

Other little things I would love to do: donate blood, try to do things that scare the crap out of me like maybe hang glide (TERRIFIED of heights), go on a helicopter ride, snorkel even though I can't swim, play with dolphins. I know there are other things but this is a good start. ;-)

So what are your hopes, dreams, wishes?

Not into politics but.....

I am the type of person that can't really follow politics but sometimes things come up that really annoying the hell out of me. I just read an article that the federal government is going to stop funding for the planned parenthood clinics. Not just for abortions but for everything. This is just insane. Some people just can't afford health care and to get a check up etc at the doctors so they go to planned parent hood where it is affordable. Now the government is going to make it much more difficult by not helping out with the funding which will raise their prices even hirer so they can cover their cost.

Planned parent hood has such a bad reputation for being a place to go to have abortions when in reality it's just a mini hospital, just a clinic. I am not here to preach what I think is right or wrong or my beliefs in abortion but I do want to say something on what is about to happen to the clinics. I just love how when the government believes something is in the wrong, they will do what they can to step in and do something about it even if it's in the wrong of the people. They are supposed to be here for us but instead they are doing what THEY want without thinking how it will effect us the people.

So many lives are going to be effected by this in some of the worse ways. I am tired of them deciding whats right for us & how we should live our lives. This is supposed to be a free country and I am sadly seeing it slowly being taken away from us as they slowly start to dictate all of our lives. We are individuals with different needs, beliefs, lives. I know they can't please everybody, it's life but I would expect them to do whats HUMANLY right. They seem to think they know whats best for everyone even though every one of us is different.

We need those clinics to be supported so we have a place to get decent health care when we can't afford the regular doctor visits. I really hope it doesn't go through and the clinics will continue to be funded. Hell we need more clinics to be funded (not just planned parent hood but other clinics as well) that have lower prices so the people who are struggling to put food on the table can get decent health care.

I can go on about others things that are annoying but I want to stick to the topic (I will save them for later blogs). Don't get me wrong, I am grateful, proud and love living here in the US where in other countries a lot worse things are going on but there are things here that go on that shouldn't as well. Since I do have the freedom of speech, I am just stating my opinion on this matter. Hope the clinics can be saved so the people that need the cheaper health care can continue to receive the what they need.

Twisted: Nursery Rhymes

I loved nursery rhymes and children songs when I was a kid and still like them as an adult. I never really noticed just how twisted a lot of them are. It is kinda weird how these popular rhymes and songs are constantly told to our kids without a thought but have a problem with letting kids watch certain cartoons etc.

Think about it, a line from 'Jack and the beanstalk' is "Be he live or be he dead I'll grind his bones to make my bread". That can be pretty scary. Most kids if not all don't even think about it but I still find it amusing how these things are told to our kids.

There is also 'Jack and Jill' with them falling down the hill and Jack breaking his "crown". I am sure kids think it's actually a crown and don't realize it means his head. That's what I thought anyways.

I don't know if any one has heard the rhyme 'Bandy legs' but it's kinda mean. It goes like this:
As I was going to sell my eggs
I met a man with bandy legs
Bandy legs and crooked toes
I tripped up his heels and he fell on his nose

Can't forget about the story of 'Hansel and Gretal'. The witch wanting to cook the kids is pretty twisted and scary. In the original story, the step-mother wanted to leave the kids in the woods because there wasn't enough food for the family. Just how twisted is that?

I know there are different versions of these rhymes, songs and stories but they still tend to be pretty freaky. Anyone remember the bumble bee song: "I'm bringing home a baby bumble bee won't my mommy be so proud of me....." well one of the original versions is pretty gross with lines like:
I'm squishing up my baby bumble bee.....
I'm licking up my baby bumble bee.....
I'm barfin' up my baby bumble bee.....
I'm wiping up my baby bumble bee....
I'm wringing up my baby bumble bee...

Pretty gross.

One song I find pretty disturbing is 'Rock a bye baby' with the last line is: "when the bough breaks the cradle will and down will come baby cradle and all". I never really got this when I was a kid.

I did a little research on these rhymes and most seem to come from the 1700's and 1800's also coming from England. I also think that a lot of these rhymes have a different meaning than what they actually sound like they are about. I just continue to find it amusing that these things are sung and read to our kids, even we grew up with them. I don't think there is anything wrong with it though. We turned out pretty ok. What I find funny is some parents who teach their kids these same songs (etc) complain about some of the cartoons, tv shows, music etc. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. That's a whole 'nother subject though.

End of 2010/ Start of a new year

Well it's that time of year again. It's hard to believe that this year is almost over. Is it me or does it seem like every year goes by faster and faster? This year for me has been better than the last few years. The beginning was a little tough though.

The first part of the year I wasn't seeing my husband much as he was spending his time in a town that was a little over 2 hrs away. He did decided to take the long as drive to from every day but it was still hard on him, the car and us. We soon (out of peer luck) had bought a used book store even though we didn't have any real money. This book store was owned by someone else, he didn't want his own business any more & sold it to this other guy. The guy had to many stores & went bankrupt, the first guy got it back. That is when we found it and took over.

It feels really good to own our own business again. My husband left his prison job so he could be closer to home and be here at the store. His father hasn't been in good health either which is another reason he wanted to be closer to home. So this year we have been working hard trying to keep the store going. We have been doing ok but got a little behind when things came up. We didn't have a  good Dec and so we are unsure what is to become of the store.

Along the  way (of this year) we have had some turn of events. Our oldest somewhat moved out trying to discover adulthood, in July 2 days before my birthday, we lost our dog Sammie due to old age (she was 13) and last month we lost our little guy (kitty) Snowball.  It seems like shortly after Jr left and Sammie died, Snowball started to get sick. We thought for the longest time that it was depression from loosing his buddies. Come to find out he had some kind of cancer that made him really sick. When Sammie died, we knew she wasn't going to last past the summer. We think she may have had a small stroke that took out her left side. She could no longer eat, use the bathroom or even walk without use holding her up. We had to put her down. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

This year we did finally get to see Jeff Dunham live. It was the coolest thing. We were 13 rows back from the stage and off to the side. We saw him at the same place I first saw NKOTB when they came back two years ago so that also brought back some memories. I have also gotten to know some interesting & cool people including Darren Hayes. I have been working even more on myself. It has been a struggle but I'm still going.

As for the world, well we are still fighting for the rights of people who are gay, battling with and about religion, fighting to survive. Can't really talk about music because I don't listen to the radio so I don't know a hole lot about what is what.

For 20011 both personal and around the world I will like to see: ALL people having rights, people being able to find jobs, stop focusing on stupid little things, stop fighting over region or trying to bring it into everything and everyone's lives.

As for myself, I would like to keep our store and have it succeed, to pay on things and get somethings fixed, good health for my family and I, loose weight, to see NKOTBSB in concert with really really good seats, meat Donnie Wahlberg, to have the money to go to the listening party of Darren Hayes & have the courage to meet him (since I am still working on the issues of being around people I don't know and admire), soooo looking forward to Darren's new album, want to see him in concert since I never have, maybe be able to open a Subway (the sandwich place) and just to continue to work on myself no matter how hard it is.

I don't know what the future holds for the world or myself (my family) but I guess I am ready as I ever will be. I am just glad and thankful that I am here and my family. That I have had the experiences that I have had.Have a happy and safe New Year everyone.

December 21st 2012

December 21st 2012 is supposed to be the end of the world. There are so many different things that are being said how the world is going to end on that day, which one is right? I personally don't think it will end but hey anything can happen (I know too that anything can happen can happen at any sec of any day).

I just find it interesting that so many people have so may different theories on how the world is going to end on that day. Reminds me of the year 1999 when everyone was freaking out that the computers were going to go haywire etc etc. and that didn't happen at all.

The thing that scares me is that a lot of people are willing to believe just about anything. Because of this, a lot of people do think the world is going to end in 2012 and can cause A LOT of chaos. Think about it, if a good part of the world believes the world is going to end, they are more likely to go out and do anything like causing riots, crime, killing themselves or others and all kinds of other things. I know that most will not do these things but there are those who would do these things thinking "why not, I am not going to be alive tomorrow anyways". Then there are those who don't believe it is going to end but will join in anyways using the end of the world as an excuse. To me I think this is more scary than the world ending because this is more real and more likely to happen. I really hope our presidents, kings, queens etc realize this and do as much planning as they can to try to keep it to a minimum or do a lot of patrolling the streets etc.

The media doesn't help either by creating fear in people. Bottom line, the world can end at any sec by anything: something from space, a major volcano eruption like the one in Yosemite or anything else of that magnitude. Instead of living in fear or wondering if the world is going to end in 2012, how about we focus on more important issues that going on out there. I say try to live each day like it's your last because you never know what is going to happen. Worry about more real things. If the world ends in 2012, then it does. There is nothing that can be done. It can be scary but what will happen will happen no matter what. I just seriously hope there isn't to much chaos going on the closer we get to Dec. 21st 2012.

Christmas Spirit

As I look around every year during the holidays, I see less holiday spirit. I don't know how people started loosing the holiday spirit. Everyone is so concerned what to say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy holidays". Does it really matter? It all means the same thing. If there is a nativity scene put somewhere, some have a fit thinking religion is being pushed. Why are we so worried about little things like this when there are more serious things going on in the world?

Christmas isn't just about celebrating the birth of Jesus, it's about giving to others, spending time with family and friends and enjoying life (all of this should be practiced every day in life). There are more than one religion out there that celebrate in different ways. It all has the same meaning no matter how it's said or celebrated. There is no wrong or right way to spend the holidays, we should embrace all differences.

This is just part of the problem. The second part of people loosing the holiday spirit is getting so stressed out over crazy things. Not having money to get this & that, having to get a certain amount of gifts, feeling like you have to spend a certain amount of money, rushing & pushing through a store trying to get that special deal or things. In the mean time people become rude, stressed, some get trampled. TRAMPLED!? Over a sale or item? Is this what we have become? Not giving a crap about others while trying to get something for someone? We have used the holidays to give into our greediness forgetting about the spirit of it all in the process. Why? What does it accomplish?

It's really sad to see this happen every year. It doesn't matter what you get, how much you spend or how many gifts. What is it going to take for everyone to realize this? I hope I can live long enough to see it get better.

Please during the holidays remember these simple things:

1) It doesn't matter how it's said or how it's celebrated, it means the same thing.
2) Don't worry about little things like a nativity scene in front of a building, it's the spirit in the holiday that really counts.
3) There is no need to rush out and spend so much money that you stress and end up broke.
4) The holidays (and every day for that matter) is about the spirit in people, family, friends and giving. As long as you have each other, nothing else matters.

            HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!
