A Look at Back To The Future

Honestly, I didn't know what title to give this blog. Today when I was watching 'Back to the future 2', I started thinking about how far we have come with technology and we how we are almost where the movie takes place. Some of the photos that I have seen go around FB showing a clip from this movie saying we are now where the movie takes place is bull. The movie takes place in 2015. When I think about when this movie was made and how we are two years away from when the movie takes place is a little freaky. In the 80's while watching that movie, it seemed like it would be a really long time to get here and not knowing at the time what the year 2015 would be like was exciting and pretty hard to think about. Then out of nowhere like if someone hit the fast forward button, we are here, living in the future.

It is interesting to watch this moving seeing what people came up with (or didn't come up with) when it came to the future. We have a lot of catching up to do. It's interesting how they came up with some pretty cool things but didn't think much about cell phones, computers and other little things like that that we do happen to have today.

Some of the things that are in the movie we do have but are rare and only for the super rich so in my book, we still don't have them. Like talking houses and phone screens, although I guess you can say we have phone screens with things like skype and other different video chats. In the movie I like it when Marty shows the kids how to play the "classic" video game and the kids think it's boring that hands have to be used. We are not far from that with the Wii and others like it. I think that pretty cool.

We have two years to get most of the stuff that was in that movie. Somehow I don't think we will make it but who knows. I would like to see the scene screens. It's not as good as actually being at some of those places but still, it would be a cool thing to have especially if it came with relaxing sounds. I would love to have an 80's diner. Wouldn't want machines taking my order but I would love it if there was an 80's diner.

I really don't like the idea of watching multiple channels at the same time and a machine that walks your dog. One of the best things about having a dog is taking it on walks and playing with it outside. Plus we are already becoming a society with less face to face interaction, I wouldn't want it to continue with our pets. I am so glad there are no more Jaws movies lol I do have to say though having a hologram Jaws come at me would be freaky (in a good way).

Other things that would be cool to see in the next two years is the hydrator. How awesome would it be to cook your food in a seconds time? I am surprised they haven't come up with something like this already. Holograms - I am so waiting for this and hope I get to see it in my lifetime. I know they have already tried this sort of thing at a concert but 1 I didn't see it and 2 I wonder how good it was. A hologram movie would be amazing if it is done right or at least the special effects be in some kind of hologram 3D without glasses. The auto jackets, who wants one!?! I know I do. It would cost a lot but that I want to see have and have. Hoverboards and no lace shoes, I'm still waiting. I think I saw something how they were trying to make those two things but it didn't work or something. I don't  remember the details. If anyone does, please share in the comments below.

Last but not least - the flying car. In future movies, you are always seeing them. Well, where are they? :)  I don't know if I would want one though. One things goes wrong with it and you could be crashing to your death and possibly killing others. It wouldn't help traffic either, it would just create traffic in the skies. I would think it would make more pollution in the air (unless they made them not to). I could see Hover cars like in 'Demolition Man' but not flying cars. Now there's a movie I need to re-watch.

It is going to be interesting to see what things are made, how much things change and how it plays into our lives in the next few years. It can be both good and bad. Trying to think of what will be in our future is fun and seeing if it happens or how close we actually come to it. Whatever the future brings, I am watching with interest and excitement.  Sometimes with a "really? how stupid and how lazy one would have to be....."

Things That Are Wrong: Baggy Pants

We all see it, guys wearing their pants down around their ass. I don't even know why this is a trend. It looks nasty and stupid. If they want to show off their ass, wear tighter pants; it's sexier. The thing that has me going (besides the pants on the ground) is the debate on whether it should be against the law/banned.

I think it shouldn't be banned or against the law. Yes I have I strong feelings about seeing guys dress like that but who are we and especially the government to tell us how we should and shouldn't dress? Just because we don't like how someone dresses, dosen't mean we get to try to control how they dress. If that was to happen, we might as well ban all tight fitting clothes, really short skirts and shorts etc etc. We do not need this kind of government control. This is a free country and we shouldn't be able to dress the way we want even if it's disgusting. It will fade out like everything else. I do agree that they could always be cited with indecent exposure but again we would have to cite everyone else who dresses not so pleasant.

Girls have their ways of dressing too that isn't nice to see especially the young ones. Right now it's just the way of dressing. The most we can do is teach our kids to dress appropriate and to respect themselves. All we have to do is stop looking at the people who dress in ways we don't like. But to try to make it a law or banned is way to dangerous and we just don't need that.

Guys, pull up your pants; it's doesn't look good one bit. Girls, cover up especially if you are a teenager. Respect yourselves guys. You can look hot and sexy and still be classy.

Airplanes and Flying

It's been awhile since I sat down and wrote a real blog. My mind just has been on other things including writing a paranormal story. Well today one of my favorite artist Darren Hayes wrote a blog while on an airplane and talking about different things about airplanes. It got me thinking and now I have decided to voice my own thoughts. Just one of those random non-imporant blogs.

First complaint, having to pay for your luggage. I get that they are trying to keep the cost of flying down but if you think about it, either way you are paying more to fly, just in a different way. Having to pay for luggage is stupid and an inconvenience.

Now some airlines want to charge for drinks. Soda cost next to nothing. I know because I used to own a fast food place so I know how it works with the soda companies. They can use paper cups or just give out the cans to save money on buying cups. People need to drink and some would like other things beside water. I can understand paying for alcohol, that is expensive. When it comes to food, I can maybe understand this but if we have to pay for food, it should be better than what they serve. It might be better to bring your own food this way you get better tasting for the money. If you are on a really long flight though, this won't work.

Security checks. This is needed but I think goes a little too far at times. We will never be able to stop someone from doing harm on a plane. It's impossible. There will always be a way for someone to sneak something on. Just how far are they willing to go to try and protect us from something they can't fully protect us from in the first place?

Different seating. Why is this an option? Don't you think everyone should have the luxury of sitting in a good seat with lots of legroom and use any bathroom they want? Make it one price too. If there is noise on the plane, a curtain won't stop it from being heard up front.  There needs to be more room in between the seats too so no one is cramped. I know when I fly and I need to use the bathroom, I usually have to grab onto the seat in front of just to hold myself up while I try to stand up since there is a tiny amount of space. I hate doing that to the person in front of me or if I accidently bump them when I barely move to get comfortable.

What about being able to pick your own seat, why can't we have this option and not pay extra? I do prefer aisle seat even though I like to look out the window. I am claustrophobic so I need the aisle seat and I hate bothering people when I need to use the bathroom.

The bathrooms. They really need to make these things bigger.  There is barely any room in there to move around even for a thin person. How do people even have sex in there? You must be very flexible to do so. Hell you pretty much need to be flexible when you are just trying to use it.

When the plane lands, why does everyone have to stand up at once to get their stuff and head to the front? I realize everyone wants to get off the plane but it becomes chaotic and then everyone has body parts in everyone's face and it's gets so cramped that it's like a pack of sardines. For someone who is claustrophobic, it is very difficult plus, it is just very frustrating.

The good things about flying, you can go anywhere in the world. You can use your laptop and still communicate while you are 30,000 feet in the air, some now have screens so you can watch movies or see the flight path and how high you are. Flying may be safer today than it was years ago but it still makes me nervous. It's a love hate relationship.

Random

Wow, three blogs in one day. Well two and a half to be exact. One of the things I like to do in my spare time is writing (hence my blog page, poems and stories). Lately, I am lacking in poems. It sucks. I have all these different topics I want to write poems about but no material comes from it. I miss writing poems.

I did recently finish a couple of stories but I wrote them for a certain someone so I won't be posting those. Sorry. I might in the future but for the time being, they stay private. I have been slowly working on a paranormal story. It's going to be the longest story I've written so far. It started with a nightmare. When I woke up, I knew I had to make a story from it so I jot it down before I forgot it. Now I am creating a story around that dream with the story ending with the nightmare I had. There should only be about eight chapters. I am working on chapter two and have notes on all chapters. I have never done anything that is extreme and this is going to take a lot out of me but I can't wait to finish it. I also started another kids story. I wrote notes/rough draft and now just need to put it together. My paranormal story will have two or three parts.

I am still trying to find a job. Can I please go back to when getting a job was easier? Wait, if that happens then I will be a teen again and I don't want that. I just want it to be easier to get a freakin' job. I have no idea what the rest of this year will bring my family and I, well nobody really does. I just really hope our financials are able to get better and without moving. No matter how frustrated I get about things, I feel lucky to have the kind of husband that I have, a warm place to live, clothes, food and all that mushy stuff.  In the end, that's all that matters.

I have recently signed up at this one web site called fineartamerica.com and started selling my photos (well trying at least). Problem is, there is so many people trying their stuff, I am just a grain of sand on a beach. Since I can only do the free account, I can only sell 25 photos at a time but put up on the site as many as I want. It's only $30 for a year and I would be able to sell an unlimited amount and be able to do a few other things but right now I need that $30 to eat. It would be nice to one day join and to have my photos start selling. We'll see what happens.

I guess that is all the rambles I have going on inside my little brain. Take care. :)

New Kids On The Block/Boy Bands and the negativity about them

I will not be writing this from a fan's point of view but from a view of seeing the music world. Boy bands (I actually hate this term but it sounds better than boy group) have been around for centuries but in different forms. There was The Beatles (which was actually a band), The Osmands, Jackson 5, Beach Boys and so on. Those were the bands from my parents generation. In my generation there was New Kids On The Block. The following generations were Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, N'sync, Hanson and so on. For every generation, there is and always will be a boy band (now I sound like the opening of 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'; Can you say nerd much?). The only difference between all these groups is the type of music. As each generation changes, so did the music, how these groups perform, look etc.

Back in the late 80's early 90's, all I heard was bad talk about NKOTB (mostly from guys). I wonder, was it like this with the boy bands from the past or is it a thing now? Why throw out negative comments about boy bands? I just don't get it. NKOTB have come back, well actually they have been back for awhile but they just put out another album called '10'. Sometimes I still hear talk like, "they are still around? More like old men on block. Ewwww new kids" and so on. I also hear the same things I heard back in the day about how they don't play their own instruments, they don't write their own songs, they can't dance, they lip sync, they can't sing. I never understood the comments and I still don't.

Not every singer writes their own songs (now NKOTB do write songs), not everyone has to play an instrument (although the term "band" does indicate instruments which is why I hate the term boy band but there isn't any other name that sounds good), they don't lip sync, so they are not the best dancers but most singers are average dancers unless the dancing is just as big of the performance as the singing and I will admit, they are not the best singers (I cringe saying it since I am a huge fan) but they are still pretty good and a hell of a lot better than a lot of artist out there.

When I hear comments or see that they are too old to be singing, to old to be dancing around and to be called New kids, I don't get it. What about The Beach Boys? They are grown men, still preform and yet they have the word 'Boys' in their name? There are so many singers out there that are well in their 50's and still make music. Everyone has their own taste in music. Music makes people feel a certain way and certain music doesn't apply to everyone. Doesn't make them bad singers. I just don't understand why so many people hate on boy bands or even on people like Justin Bieber. How many boy bands can go their separate ways, come back 20 years later and still hit it pretty hard? Not many and yet NKOTB has done it.

I guess I will never know why boy bands from my generation and today get so much negative attention. I do know it gets pretty old. If boy bands (or any singer for that matter) can make people happy and make money, what is the harm? Why does so much negativity have to be thrown around? Why is it the older generation boy bands don't get so much negativity like ours do? What is music to one persons ears, is crap to another which is fine. Not everyone is going to like their music.

Why I like NKOTB? I like the way it makes me feel. I like different types of music. They make me feel different things. NKOTB is my fun, let loose, feeling free, escaping from the stress of everyday life. Watching them on stage, well I'm a straight female who doesn't mind watching five guys on stage (just like men watching girls). I know this won't stop the feud but I needed to express it and just question it. I mean shouldn't we be discussing and worrying about more important things than "Oh my God they're still around"?

Sex And Our Schools

Today I saw something on my FB timeline from one of the news channels in my area about if we think there should be an opt-in or opt-out option for sex education classes.  I read the different comments from people and there is mixed feelings. This is one of the sensitive topics that I hear about. I've read/heard all concerns and feelings. Some make some good points but I feel there is only one answer, keep sex education in the class rooms and don't give the option to take the class or not.

I agree 100%  that parents should be the one to teach their kids about sex. Problem is, not all parents do this for whatever reason. When this happens, kids/teens turn to other things/people to get their info. This is very dangerous. Since not all parents talk to their kids about sex, I think it should be taught in schools. I have also been hearing stories about some of the topics that are discussed in these class rooms and if condoms should be in middle and high schools.

Some of the things that the sex educators talk about, shouldn't be discussed or how they say things or even put in their own thoughts about something. They need to stick to the basic; how pregnancy happens, disease, the feelings and changes teenagers go through and that it's ok to have them, rape, what it takes to to take care of a baby (and details like with money and how much diapers a baby goes through etc etc) and a second part of the class a parenting class; first aid, how to change a diaper etc etc. The teacher should also know how to teach things that will make everyone feel comfortable about it especially if the kids have questions.

As for condoms being in the schools, yes they need to be. It won't make kids want to have sex and it's not giving them the ok to do it. It simply says "If you're going to have sex, protect yourself and wear a condom." Teens will always find a way to have sex if they really wanted to no matter what we say. It is our job to teach them the dangers of it and hope they listen. If condoms were more available to them and to where they could get them without feeling embarrassed or fear of their parents finding out, I think more kids/teens would wear them. Not all but more.

Sex is a part of life. More kids are not having sex than back in the old days, we are just more aware that it goes on because it's talked about more. We need to stop being so scared to tell our kids about sex, the difference between boys and girls, the changes they go through, the different types of sex and so on. They are not going to die or be harmed in any way. The more they know, the better of a chance they have of protecting themselves. Let them know it's nothing to be ashamed of. To respect themselves and the people they choose to be with. I would rather have my kids learn from me and a class then from their friends and possibly get the wrong info, get pregnant and/or a STD.

Job Applying Questions - A Bad Thing

Whatever happened to the simple ways of applying for a job? Talking with someone face to face about getting one & not dealing with questions that makes your head hurt? I guess I can understand doing applications on-line. Less paper, easier when looking on-line for a job etc but the questions that come with it especially for crap jobs like fast food & retail is just insane. They shouldn't be allowed to do so.

The questions don't prove anything. A lot of the questions are repeated, not always job related, neutral questions & just a waste of time. It makes it so much harder to get a job this way or to even get a foot in the door. No wonder some people have such a hard time getting a simple job.  What makes it worse is that there are at least 12 or more pages with the stupid psych questions. I mean really?!

You can still find some companies that have paper apps but hardly. I've even run into some with math type questions. These days the only thing you need to know is how to count change back. Even that is done for you by most registers these days.  I've heard that in some places, companies are not allowed to do this. I think it should be everywhere.  People are being screwed by this; hardworking people. I'm not really sure what can done about it if anything but I do know that I am fed up with this crap. I would just not apply to those places but when just about every company out there (even fast food) is doing this, I & others like me don't have a choice.
