Honestly, I didn't know what title to give this blog. Today when I was watching 'Back to the future 2', I started thinking about how far we have come with technology and we how we are almost where the movie takes place. Some of the photos that I have seen go around FB showing a clip from this movie saying we are now where the movie takes place is bull. The movie takes place in 2015. When I think about when this movie was made and how we are two years away from when the movie takes place is a little freaky. In the 80's while watching that movie, it seemed like it would be a really long time to get here and not knowing at the time what the year 2015 would be like was exciting and pretty hard to think about. Then out of nowhere like if someone hit the fast forward button, we are here, living in the future.
It is interesting to watch this moving seeing what people came up with (or didn't come up with) when it came to the future. We have a lot of catching up to do. It's interesting how they came up with some pretty cool things but didn't think much about cell phones, computers and other little things like that that we do happen to have today.
Some of the things that are in the movie we do have but are rare and only for the super rich so in my book, we still don't have them. Like talking houses and phone screens, although I guess you can say we have phone screens with things like skype and other different video chats. In the movie I like it when Marty shows the kids how to play the "classic" video game and the kids think it's boring that hands have to be used. We are not far from that with the Wii and others like it. I think that pretty cool.
We have two years to get most of the stuff that was in that movie. Somehow I don't think we will make it but who knows. I would like to see the scene screens. It's not as good as actually being at some of those places but still, it would be a cool thing to have especially if it came with relaxing sounds. I would love to have an 80's diner. Wouldn't want machines taking my order but I would love it if there was an 80's diner.
I really don't like the idea of watching multiple channels at the same time and a machine that walks your dog. One of the best things about having a dog is taking it on walks and playing with it outside. Plus we are already becoming a society with less face to face interaction, I wouldn't want it to continue with our pets. I am so glad there are no more Jaws movies lol I do have to say though having a hologram Jaws come at me would be freaky (in a good way).
Other things that would be cool to see in the next two years is the hydrator. How awesome would it be to cook your food in a seconds time? I am surprised they haven't come up with something like this already. Holograms - I am so waiting for this and hope I get to see it in my lifetime. I know they have already tried this sort of thing at a concert but 1 I didn't see it and 2 I wonder how good it was. A hologram movie would be amazing if it is done right or at least the special effects be in some kind of hologram 3D without glasses. The auto jackets, who wants one!?! I know I do. It would cost a lot but that I want to see have and have. Hoverboards and no lace shoes, I'm still waiting. I think I saw something how they were trying to make those two things but it didn't work or something. I don't remember the details. If anyone does, please share in the comments below.
Last but not least - the flying car. In future movies, you are always seeing them. Well, where are they? :) I don't know if I would want one though. One things goes wrong with it and you could be crashing to your death and possibly killing others. It wouldn't help traffic either, it would just create traffic in the skies. I would think it would make more pollution in the air (unless they made them not to). I could see Hover cars like in 'Demolition Man' but not flying cars. Now there's a movie I need to re-watch.
It is going to be interesting to see what things are made, how much things change and how it plays into our lives in the next few years. It can be both good and bad. Trying to think of what will be in our future is fun and seeing if it happens or how close we actually come to it. Whatever the future brings, I am watching with interest and excitement. Sometimes with a "really? how stupid and how lazy one would have to be....."
